I totally agree with you!Nicolaoua wrote:
And if you allow me: these musicians are also gorgeous women.

Dunno...Alianna on drums, Adeline on guitar and Nico on keyboards? But then who on bass?

Re: The new band
Here is another hypothesis that we can't completely discard:
Chan: Guitar
Adeline: Bass
Nico: Keyboard
Alianna: Drums
Chan: Guitar
Adeline: Bass
Nico: Keyboard
Alianna: Drums

And you're probably right. Chan said she wanted to play instruments after not playing all these years on stage.
...and I'd like to see her play drums on stage too. Just for fun!

Re: The new band
I wouldn't be surprised if Chan alternates during the show between moments where she will play and sing and moments where she will only sing. As i understood, Nico Turner is also a guitar player, so she might play it when the keyboard isn't needed, which would allow Chan to focus on the singing for very soulful songs.
I like these moments before a new Tour when you have so many questions: you can imagine everything!

Re: The new band
The mood of the first video is not very different than what we can hear on some songs on SUN.
So, she can also play the drums...

Re: The new band
I finally found something on Aliana Kalaba:
She's (or was) the drummer of the band WE RAGAZZI
http://www.myspace.com/weragazzi
She also played drums with Tunde Adebimpe and Kyp Malone from the excellent band TV on the RADIO.
Here with Kyp:

Re: The new band
Awesome pictures. Looks like Adeline has a Vox amp of some sort with her telecaster.
Cant tell what kind of bass is there. Looks like an Ampeg bass cabinet, its about the size of a refrigerator. Also see Gregg's Nord keyboard with a Mini Moog keyboard on top of it.

And we still don't know what Nico is doing!
Found this interview (february 2011) of Nico Turner:
http://tomtommag.com/2011/02/nico-turner/
"TTM: Do you play any other instruments? If so … how does that effect your drumming?
NT: There’s something to be said for playing music these days. It seems like there’s a real place for the avant-garde, like more people are thinking outside the lines, which is very inspiring. A lot of people aren’t doing what they’ve been told is the formulaic or correct way of doing things. More and more, people are taking on different roles and breaking the rules. Genres are being integrated. It feels like everyone is open to anything or hungry for something new. I feel the same way, open and hungry.
That being said, I do play other instruments, I’m always searching for new ways to be musical and in a way that I’ve never heard before. That means picking up a lot of instruments and discovering what else they can do. Anything I’m interested in, I play. Typically, guitar, beat boxes, etc. I try to approach everything musically with childlike wonder and enthusiasm, like… My friends in EXITMUSIC gave me a Shudh Sangeet last year. I play it all the time. This inspires my drumming in a sense that it opens me up more. If I’m experimenting with other instruments, I’ll have to be experimental with the drums."
Well it doesn't help!

Re: The new band
At least it tells us that her favourite instrument is the drums.
We'll know very soon: the first concert will take place in 3 weeks. I wish we'll have a "reporter" in Miami...

Re: The new band
Chan's medical leave is supposed to be over, so i suppose that very soon we'll know what is the role of everybody in this band...
Re: The new band
Thank you for posting these!
Okay, so in that last picture, Nico Turner is on bass.
So maybe this is it?
Chan: Vocals (possibly guitar and/or keyboard in concert)
Gregg: Keyboard (probably guitar also in concert)
Adeline: Guitar
Nico: Bass
Alianna: Drums
Also, that first one of Gregg and Adeline... it's like Chan now has Keith Richards circa 1972 AND her own young version of herself in the band now...

Re: The new band
Adeline by Matador: http://www.matadorrecords.com/matablog/2012/09/25/cat-power-band-profiles-1-adeline/
"As Cat Power readies a brand new band and innovative stage show for her upcoming tour, we thought we’d take some time to introduce you to her (mostly) new musical sisters (and brother) in arms."
"And brother": so Gregg is on board.

Re: The new band
Cool. So her favorite Cat Power song is Nude As The News. I hope that song is featured on the tour.
Also, The Soft Machine, wow. Interesting choice. It's been a long time since I listened to any of their stuff. I might have to find my CD of theirs and check it out again.
George Harrison, "All Things Must Pass".
