The informations in the article are basically the same as in Pitchfork.

What i learned from it:

-She met Philippe Zdar the day after her Salle Pleyel concert last year.

-"Nothing but Time" was written for Ribisi's daughter (it reminds me of Paul McCartney writing Hey Jude for Julian Lennon)

-She asked David Bowie to sing on Nothing but Time but he could not do it (that's how it's written) so she asked Iggy Pop.

There's also in Voxpop an interesting excerpt from a 2006 interview for french magazine "Newcomer". Chan says in this excerpt that a few months before he died, she was contacted by Johnny Cash's granddaughter who told her that her grand father liked her music, especially "I don't blame You" and that he might cover it (of course he didn't).

She anwsers first by saying she wants to tour. More records being talked about. She sounds really optimistic here. Awesome!

How about this part?

In order to create the song as it exists in my mind, I have to be mathematical—the mathematical part on one side of my brain that plays the song in the right tempo, doesn’t fuck up the notes. And then there is the other part of the song— the other side of my brain—the spiritual, animal, beautiful part of performing that has nothing to do with math and everything to do with feeling. It can be difficult to get into a meditative state and really be there in the moment when you’re trying to balance those two things . . . especially when there are people watching you.

I think you can really tell when she gets in that "meditative state" she talks about. This is usually the best part of the concert, especially her solo shows. I'm excited to hear a new band with her though.

Je viens de l'acheter. La critique de l'album est plutôt mitigée...et l'interview plutôt courte. Chan aimerait ouvrir un restaurant? Elle a des projets plein la tête en tous cas. Livres, cinéma et restaurant, le tout avant ses 80 ans.
