I've been answered that Cat Power's interview should also be available online on their web site by the end of june.

It would be "uber-cool" if somebody (dirtybarry?) could pick up one copy on thursday. Boys, it's been ages since her last interview and it's her first since SUN is ready!

Er, what? That part at the end there was confusing. Karl Lagerfeld stopped her on the street to ask her to perform for what? They cut the video there. Then shes talking about how they put make up on her and "computerized" her to look thin?
Is she talking about her old modeling pictures? or...?

Oh, yeah. I read about that. It was just so random how they edited that part in the interview. Not really current news.

Cat Power - Chan Marshall - resurfaces Sept. 4 with Sun (Matador). She wrote, played, recorded and produced the entirety of record by herself, explaining, "Sun was a search for rebirth"... a journey from "extreme isolation and desperation" to her affirmation and acceptance of hope for the world and personal fulfillment. It was cut in Malibu and Miami and features "brief guest appearances" by Jim White, Judah Bauer and Gregg Foreman on "Ruin." She mixed the album with Philippe Zdar (Phoenix, Cassius, Chromeo) in Paris this spring.

Some details, courtesy Matador:

"Cherokee" explores the death of a relationship ("bury me upside-down"). "Ruin" depicts a journey around a suffering world where perserverance is the only solution - albeit set to a relentlessly catchy piano hook. Those versed in the Cat Power discography will detect elements of 2003's landmark album 'You Are Free,' which experimented with vocal forms and beats borrowed from urban music, but over the dark lyrical language of songs like "He War." SUN is not about a happy world - it's about being at peace with a world that is often unhappy and unfair.

Musically the album covers a broad tonal palette, from the classic Cat Power minor-key guitar and vocal hook in "Cherokee" to upbeat, almost dancey electronic anthems like "Real Life" and "3, 6, 9," and culminating in the 8-minute long piano-driven album closer "Nothing But Time," an epic, stirring acceptance of the future featuring a vocal cameo by Iggy Pop. The narrative arc of the record is vast and deeply American in its spaciousness; the musical idiom is defiantly modern and global.

"Real Life" is upbeat, almost dancey. Yes! That means if probably isnt all slow like the concert versions. Sweet.
"Nothing But Time" is 8 minutes with Iggy Pop on it! This is so cool!

That's a lot of informations here, with the confirmation of Iggy Pop's cameo!

I'm a bit surprised by the way they describe Cherokee as "classic Cat Power minor-key guitar and vocal hook" because it doesn't sound anywhere close to her fomer songs!

Il semble qu'il sera question de Cat Power dans la Short List du Grand Journal de Canal Plus ce soir. Vu que je ne regarde pas cette émission (et oui, ça existe), je ne sais pas à quoi ça ressemble.

edit: ok, je vois maintenant ce que c'est, on peut espérer quelques secondes d'interview.
