9/18/13 - Santa Fe, NM, Santa Fe Farmer's Market Pavilion, "Station To Station"
Setlist (incomplete):
Just Like Heaven
I Wanna Be Your Dog
Bully
Fool
Werewolf
Psychic Hearts
Woman Of My Word
This is the 58th performance of the year and the 1st Solo performance of the year. This concert and the other ones Chan will appear at on the 21st and 24th are part of a traveling art project called "Station To Station" organized by Doug Aitken. You might recall Chan was a part of his "Sleepwalkers" art installation in 2007.
This date was originally announced for Lamy, NM at their train depot. But was later changed.
This solo set lasted around 45 minutes, her first since 10/22/06 almost 7 years ago. She had hinted, as far back as late last year, that she would play solo shows and also just recently hinted at some shows for the upcoming winter season. She played acoustic guitar.
The official "Station To Station" site:
http://stationtostation.com
You can read quotes from Chan like,
“I want to remember how to be happy like I was when I was able to roller-skate backwards.”
“There’s a big map in my mind and I don’t know dates and I don’t know days, but I know cities and I know the amount of time I’m supposed to be in each place. That’s about all I can tell you. But home? No, I don’t have a home yet.”

I need to hear the whole performance because it sounds highly experimental.

"Just went backstage to pick up a poster and Cat Power was just getting off and she asked me about them so I showed her mine and she was super complementary and shook my hand and introduced herself and so I did too and she called me taylor roofus and said I reminded her of her little sister then her handlers came before I could get a picture. Oh my god."

Short Review
http://www.coachella.com/forum/showthread.php?13-Upcoming-Shows/page2264&s=6dc8724c34e15269e99d45fb08c84735
I just got back from the Station to Station stop in Santa Fe. I really only went to see Cat Power, as I've never had a chance to see her do a full show before. I just saw her do a couple of songs at Bonnaroo in 2008. Her performance was about what I expected. It was the most vulnerable and raw I've ever seen anybody on stage. I was very close to the stage, so I had a great view of her in all her awkward glory. When she came out, she prefaced everything by saying this was the first time she's performed alone in a long time. She came off as very sweet, yet not at all confident. She would go from scared and inhibited to seemingly wanting to come out of her shell, by engaging the crowd with winks and smiles, from second to second. She also apologized quite a bit, and cut a couple of songs short. One time because she forgot the lyrics. She said she hadn't tried to perform that song since 2000, so that's why she forgot some of the words. Honestly, I wasn't annoyed by the erratic show. There was something real and endearing about it. Plus, when she WAS focused and confident, she sounded really great.

"The headlining act of the night was the inimitable, incomparable Cat Power. She played songs from her latest album and even took requests from the audience—she played "Werewolf"!—who went bananas for her. She was amazing, and it was so great to see her live after her long hiatus."

Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) closed out the night with a stripped down, intimate vocals-and-guitar performance. Marshall already has one of the most effective and effecting voices in rock, a raspy, haunting thing that sounds like it has lived. So when she slalomed between songs like “Fool,”"Psychic Hearts” and a gritty cover of the Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog,” it was all magic (or, as our own Douglas Wolk pointed out, it was “cats and dogs!”).
As she wrapped her set, the crowd was begging for more; requests ranged from “Play ‘Malibu Heart’!” to “Play whatever the fuck you want!” But when the last note echoed out through the skylights, Marshall gave a very Station to Station apropos good-night: “Have a great time … Wherever you go.”

What we know about the setlist so far:
Just Like Heaven
I Wanna Be Your Dog
Bully
Fool
Werewolf
Psychic Hearts
Who would ever think that all these songs would be in one setlist? With all the multi-media surrounding this project, one would hope her set was professionally recorded and we get to hear it one day.
