This was the 7th performance of the year and the 25th performance of the Sun Tour. An unknown guitar duo and Sisu opened. This is the last date of Chan's short 7-date US Tour. Following this she will head to New Zealand and Australia for 10 more performances in February and March.

This concert was originally scheduled for 10/25/12 but was postponed to 1/2/13 due to Hurricane Sandy. It was later rescheduled to this date.

I'll write a bit about this concert and the Richmond concert when I get back home.

The review is pretty accurate. Some kind of spark was missing or disappeared. Still, there were some good moments. "The Greatest" was outstanding to me. And "Silent Machine" was really good, with both Chan and Adeline playing that lead guitar part together. The review is right that the main problem was the sound. Chan motioned and gestured a lot around the 4th or 5th song and this continued for 3 or 4 songs. I dont know that she ever got it the way she wanted it. She asked the audience up front off-mike if the sound was okay once or twice. I could be wrong but the turning point in the set seems to be just before "Bully" when someone shouted for "Sea Of Love" and said it so fast that Chan misheard what he was saying. She thought he said "Give up!". "Give up?!", Chan said and quickly turned her head towards the audience with a look of disbelief and a little anger. Others shouted, "Sea of Love" as well and some other requests. Though I'm not sure she understood that no one had really said, "Give up." She sang Bully kneeling down at the edge of the stage on the left side and halfway through the song moved to the other side of the stage and sang kneeling down there. She seemed fragile and to add to the rudeness of people in the audience shouting for songs, during this song people were taking lots of pictures. Someone had one of those cameras that shines a light for like 2 seconds before the picture clicks off and shined it right at her from like 15 feet away, she ducked down to get out of the way of the light and you could see wasnt enjoying that at all. This was a really sad performance and at the end she went and sat on the edge of Nico's platform for a minute while the song ended. The girl next to me said she could see Chan crying. Chan returned about 2 minutes into "Angelitos Negros", smoking a cigarette. While this was usually one of the best songs of the concerts, her performance here I would describe as subdued. From here on out the vocal mix got worse and several songs later, someone next to me was wondering if she was even in the sound mix anymore. What I really enjoyed was watching the band play and how good they are getting at recreating these songs without the backing tracks, I noticed a lot more parts were being done live, like little guitar licks and vocal parts. I also enjoyed that Chan winked at me a few times early on in the set . At the end Chan threw a bunch of T-shirts out and after that I frisbee'd my Covers Record on the stage and Chan was nice enough to sign another record for me. Thanks, Chan!! After that she was gone. I also met some nice people at the show, hopefully they'll pop up here soon.

Finally, was the light show exactly the same as last year?

No, it was more pared down. And the triangle arch was gone. That blinding white light she used for "Angelitos Negros" wasnt there, she was lit from spotlights above. There wasnt any of this type of stuff:

Thank you. Could it be that now they don't travel with their own lights anymore but that instead they use the lights from the venues?

Yeah, seems they just have the projection.
