AFASM: a new alias for Chan on Instagram

Chan Marshall wrote on Twitter that "AFASM" is the name of her Instagram account. Last week she also created a Tumblr account with this name, with further informations: it means "Arrow From a Southern Moon". After a quick search on google, i discovered that Chan once talked (at least in "LES INROCKUPTIBLES" magazine, around 2004 http://www.lesinrocks.com/2004/07/30/musique/cat-power-en-studio-11198790/ ) about changing her stage name for AFASM.

La semaine dernière, elle a également ouvert un compte Tumblr sous ce pseudonyme, en précisant que cela signifiait "Arrow From a Southern Moon". There's another article somewhere where she says she wants her name to be "afasm msafa". She said it was her Indian name or something. Almost certainly, this was just a joke though.

Yes, it was probably a joke, but that's not the first time that what started as a joke becomes something more serious: remember "Sittin on a ruin"?
