Chan to narrate ''Janis" documentary

Cat Power, aka Chan Marshall, has been announced as the narrator of Janis, a forthcoming documentary about Janis Joplin. In particular, Marshall will read letters written by the late singer.

Janis was made with the support of Joplin's estate. The movie was directed by Oscar-nominated Amy Berg (Deliver Us From Evil), and will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.

This should be good. I know for many, many years the estate was involved in talks to make a bio-pic like ''Walk The Line'' or "Ray". It looks like they decided not take that direction. I am glad they picked Chan to do the voice work in this. The 1974 documentary (also titled Janis) was excellent. Hopefully this will be a good companion to that movie.

I saw the movie last thursday for the premiere in Paris. You should go especially if you like Janis!!
It was really nice. 
And Chan voice was a plus, and those letters could be written by her...

Merci Camille, je relaie sur la page Facebook! Je n'ai pas encore trouvé le temps d'aller voir le Star Wars mais je crois qu'il attendra que j'aille d'abord voir Janis!
