This was the 66th performance of the tour. Women & Children opened.
There is a recording of this concert that runs for about 151 minutes. I would love to have a copy of this. It looks like a really wild fun concert. Does anyone have a copy?
Concert Review From Matador Forum Member
I was in Frankfurt too. And I have to say, the concert was extraordinaire. You could say that Cat Power rocked the venue empty, at the end, after 3 1/2 hours there were only 1/5 of the whole audience. But she was human. That made this concert so nice. The music that she played was very fine and varied from songs to long jams. All the time she had a good singing voice...
It was all very interesting to listen to hear words she said. She insulted some of the audience ( i didn't felt spoken to, so). The real hard thing was some people in the audience which had no respect for Chan Marshall. What have they expected.... they were going to Cat Power a great musician, a great person. I had the luck to tell her thanks for her music and she was so nice. She is really down to the earth and has a connection to her fans. That she only played two songs is a lie. She played about 8 or 9 Songs I would say. And these songs were not stopped in the middle. So it was a very nice experience. Whats sad about this thing is only that Chan Marshall felt not good and I have to say, in a way I understand her with some very disrespectfull persons in the audience (the people who got out ad got their money back, i have to say to them: RUNTS!). It was such a special experience which I will never forget. NEVER. It was, for me, a very very nice event. Her Band "Some Women & Children" was great !!! I think this has always been forgotten in the reviews before.

Concert Review
Cat Power's current guitarist Coleman Lewis to Chan Marshall last night in Frankfurt: "You're not part of the solution. You are part of the problem. And that is our problem."
I do not want to write about last night's Cat Power show at the Mousonturm. Just two or three sentences. It was the most pitiful, disgraceful and abominable concert I have ever seen in my life. Not really a concert, more a performance gone terribly wrong. Chan Marshall was totally drunk and certainly on other drugs as well. Her band left her alone on stage after maybe 30 minutes of very badly performed songs by her. Then she was talking drunkard's gibberish mixed with many insults to the audience and didn't manage to play one song on her own. I regretted not having taken a video camera to film her and give her the tape as a present to show her face this night.

Cat Power at Mousonturm/Frankfurt
Complete and great versions of Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground & Try Me (Chan & Band). She was drunk, yes, but these two songs were one of the best live experiences I ever had. Partially Chan was walking and lying in the audiance and screamed her heart out. Perfect!
The rest of the songs I can´t remember, she talked very much, especially with someone in the audience, sitting on the piano etc. But for me it was fun!

Welcome to the forum!
I've moved your post to this topic, otherwise there would have been one too many for this concert.

If this is the recording I remember, this was a train wreck of a performance. Like cringe worthy moments with drunk Chan on stage. Like really bad. And I've heard pretty much every Cat Power recording known to exist. I may be mistaken but I believe this is the one I'm talking about.

Re: 6/8/03 - Frankfurt, Germany, Mousonturm
Well, 3 years ago I was dedicated to finding every Cat Power recording out there and sharing them with everyone, mainly on dimeadozen, and I did for the most part. I did some trading with people and surfaced a lot of unheard recordings and interviews and videos that are now widely available. I spent a ton of time and work to find these and after about 7 months of all this work, I moved on from it and slowed down a bit and sadly, on a spur of the moment, I deleted all this work I had done. Yes, very stupid of me to do and looking back on it I regret it especially since it was my passion and hobby and I wish I still had all that work. The reason I started doing all that work was because Cat Power was my new love after hearing her for the first time and I had to hear everything she had to offer whether it was live or on an album, and to this day she's my favorite musician/band of all time.
I still have CDR's that I put some of this stuff on, but I can't guarantee it will be the full recordings since sometimes I wouldn't put the whole thing on there, but other times I would. Stupid, I know. The only way I can somehow rebuild my collection is by grabbing anything dimeadozen puts up or one of you guys put up, which I appreciate by the way.
I made a post about some recordings I have in the "1991-2005" thread on the forum, and here is a list of what I DID have at one point. If you see anything that you don't have, let me know, I'll try to find it. http://db.etree.org/ChadBC
Sorry, for the off topicness.

Aha! So you are Chad. I sent you an email a long time ago at the beginning of MY Cat Power downloading obsession (and emails to dozens of other people). Never heard back.
Dont be sorry, nothing could really be off-topic here. I will certainly sent you a message on here regarding the ones I am still seeking but if you look in the Building an Anthology of Cat Power Bootlegs section, my list is there. The ones with a * are the ones I seek.

Oh, whoops! Sorry about that, not really good at checking emails, obviously haha. Just read it now, funny how I ended up on this board after reading that email when I think about it, haha.
And no problem, I'm glad it helped someone out there and made some people happy/entertained, or what have you. Still wish I wasn't so stupid and still had all my collection but that's alright. Stuff happens.

By the way, how did you find it? Google?
Re: 6/8/03 - Frankfurt, Germany, Mousonturm
I believe on the Matador Records forum. The link to here was posted and that place was pretty much dead for Cat Power threads and such so I decided to check this place out. I didn't join the forum until after a couple months though. Plus the old Cat Power fan site/forum a couple years ago was dead/shut down so I wanted to join a new one. I also believe I saw it mentioned on a YouTube video in the comments, but that may have been after I already came here for the first time.

Re: 6/8/03 - Frankfurt, Germany, Mousonturm
If you dont mind me asking and you may not remember. How did you come up with the 2/11/99 date for the Syndey Channel V stuff, "Colors And The Kids", "Good Woman" TV appearence? This circulates under 2/12/98 all the time which is obviously false since the interviewer mentions Moonpix being out. Its not some huge deal for me to know but its probably the only misdated Cat Power out there and I've only seen your list include the 2/11/99 date which seems correct to me since she was in Australia to tour then.

Re: 6/8/03 - Frankfurt, Germany, Mousonturm
Oh, man. I am so rusty it's not even funny. I have a audio version of the broadcast which features an interview in the middle of it and I may have uploaded that to dimeadozen. They may have mentioned the date in that interview or mentioned upcoming tour dates and I may have looked up those tour dates and placed the date of the broadcast according to those dates. I'll have to look into it, I believe I had all the Australian recordings from that tour so I may have just assumed it logically fit the best on that date. And I think that date is correct for the general consesus. And yeah, it's def. not 1998 for sure so it's def. around that time in February of 1999. And there's a couple other mislabel's as far as dates/venues go which I might go into later after I dig all my collection back up from the dead.
