Now back in the states, Chan plays 2 solo benefit concerts in April before going on a 10-date run of concerts in May. Her appearence here seems not to be a concert per se, since she only does two songs. Also on the bill was Chan's friend Patti Smith.

Saw Ms. Chan live in the Cathedral of St. John The Divine. Amazing. Was a benefit for Israel & Palestine & there were many other performers, Cat Power was one. She was one with the audience when she took the stage early in the eve and it was a solemn occassion she chose two songs to match. Everyone played two. Chan came on singing her new one on the piano the one that goes "please don't let me down, im on the same side as you, im just a little bit be-hind." or this is the way I hear the lyrics at least. and she sang this one so soft and nice and the reverberations thru the cathedral echoed forwards and back 'neath the high ceilings the soft lights and the colours. All us Cat Power fans in the cheap seats tried to creep a little closer to hear the girl of our dreams singing sweet dreams. As the one song ended she segued into "Maybe Not" just as you heard it performed on the tonight show on TV last year. Maybe somebody new who never heard Cat Power before did that night and maybe now they know that it doesn't hurt to dream. It was dreamy, that night was dreamy.
