Re: 11/14/13 - Brooklyn, NY, Brooklyn Masonic Temple - 2 Shows
My only complaint from the early show is that it was too short. Just about an hour and a half. Chan even apologized for that, saying she played "2 or 3 hours" everywhere else. It took me back to the good/bad old days of seeing Chan play solo so many times. There were so many beautiful moments, for me "Baby Doll" was a stand out. She closed with the new French song about raspberries, cigarettes, and Chanel jewelry. I picked up a Moon Punx shirt. There were also skateboards with the CP logo for sale, one was signed and I saw a woman buy it for $125. Setlist:

Thanks for writing about the show! Glad you had a good time. So you only saw the early show? How much was an unsigned skateboard?

I think unsigned was $80. It was pretty cool looking, black with a pink logo on it. Only saw the first show. Not crazy enough for a double feature!

Since it's not written on the setlist above, i suppose that it's from the second concert:

Got to say that I love that "Let Me Go'', "Brave Liar" and "Monster" are getting played at seemingly every show. There can never be enough versions of these great songs to listen too.

Re: 11/14/13 - Brooklyn, NY, Brooklyn Masonic Temple - 2 Shows
I am thinking this comes from the late show, since I think she only used her own guitar on the first show and Nico's guitar on the second show. This means the setlist for the second show has an error, because I dont have these 2 songs listed back to back as she plays them here. Thoughts?

Late Show Review:
http://informantdaily.com/review-nik-lone-cat-power-live-brooklyn-masonic-temple/
The very first time I saw Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) on stage was about 10 years ago in the small Melbourne jazz club Bennett’s Lane. At that show, with her long brown hair almost completely obscuring her face, she spent a long while alone at the piano before starting. But when she finally opened her mouth to sing, I was entranced. I got that shiver so longed for at a show – the unmistakable feeling you’re seeing something quite special. I was spellbound and, ever since, I’ve wanted nothing but good things for this Atlanta-born songbird.
It would be several years before I could see her live again. Every festival gig, every sideshow was always thwarted by my travels or another clash. So I was glad to finally catch a rare solo performance at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple. I had actually caught part of her full-band show late last year, when she started to tour her latest album ‘Sun’. That concert was a little rough and not without its technical issues. Chan, famous for stopping mid-way through her songs if there was a problem with the sound, the lights or if someone was just looking at her the wrong way, did just that. So I figure tonight would be more like the first show – just Chan, alone with her instrument and relatively little to distract her.
When I arrived at the temple, I was surprised to learn she’d just finished a set and that I’d be seeing the second show of the evening. The way she invested herself in her performances, I wasn’t sure how she would manage two full shows in one night? But from her first note, that magic was switched on and rarely faltered over the next 2 hours. Her set was permeated with songs old and new, including some impressively re-interpreted covers. The night was all about the music but her rare and welcome interactions with the audience gave us all a chance to see the comedienne lurking there beneath this beautiful wave of melancholy.
To say life has not been easy for Chan would be an understatement. Substance abuse and issues of the mind have plagued this brilliant musician for years. But now she seems more in control and at peace with herself and her audience. In the end, she’s just a very real creature, getting up on stage and laying it down as she sees and feels it. By her last song, despite it being almost 2am, the audience was in rapture and I was, once again, so grateful to have been awed by this truly unique artist.
