Sun Tour Setlist - Your Ideas

What do you think will end up in the setlist on the tour? What are your ideas?

Ideally, she'll play the majority of the album. I could see "Always On My Own" and "Human Being" maybe not being played. I really dont think that after fronting the DDBB for so long that she'll return to playing guitar full time with the band, but I'd like that. I also dont think we'll see a return of the solo section of the concert but I really wish she would so I could watch her play the piano. If she is doing a big stage set and band outfits and stuff, than I cant see her doing a solo spot in the middle of all that. I also hope that with the comparison to "You Are Free" that "Sun" seems to have, that some of those songs from that album will be played live. She's talked in several interviews about her fascination with Dylan's "Blood On The Tracks", his so-called "Divorce" album. I wonder if she'll cover one of those tracks. "Idiot Wind" would be phenomenal, so I'll throw that one in here.

It might sound harsh but I hope "Lord Help The Poor And Needy" is out of the setlist now.

Nice ideas, especially Idiot Wind! I need to think more about this but i think that if Chan will play the guitar, she won't do it for the whole concert.

There is one song that is not on your list that i would miss a lot: Metal Heart, but at this point i can't imagine how it could sound with the new band. A comment that i could do for the whole tour. Am i excited? You bet i am!

There is one song that i hope we'll hear again, that's Colors & the Kids. I really like the fast version that we can hear on some old bootlegs and i think that it would suit well in a more Rock oriented tour.

Like Nicolaoua I really REALLY want to hear Metal Heart. This song gives me the chills everytime I hear it.

This 2011 version of King Rides By is basically a duet of Chan with herself. This raises a new question: is anybody in "The Brigade" able to deliver good vocals to help Chan on stage if she wants to do some kind of duet? From what we've heard, Nico Turner can sing but i wasn't impressed by Adeline's voice.

Quant à King Rides By, je l'ai pas mal écoutée ce soir aussi. Je me suis penchée un peu sur les paroles.
Elles sont vraiment magnifiques. On ne dira jamais assez à quel point Chan écrit bien. Même si the Greatest ne fait pas partie de mon panthéon, je dois reconnaître que c'est l'un de ses plus beaux texte. (On devrait ouvrir un topic paroles pour se pencher sur certains de ses titres...)

And now i'm listening to Sidney 2011, and the set list contained 5 songs that are still unreleased: Let Me Go, Horizon, Woman of My word, Monster & Brave Liar.
This 2012 tour might a bit early to hear completely new songs but i wouldn't be surprised to hear at least 1 new.

Pour les paroles, 2 possibilités, soit on crée un (des) topic(s) spécifique(s), soit on en parle dans les topics des albums. Je n'ai pas d'idée arrêtée sur la question. Par ailleurs, je n'ai pas eu le temps de creuser la légalité de la chose...

Thanks for posting that Sab. So since one of the tags for the picture was "drummachines", I assume this is a picture of the drum machine that Gregg will use for the concerts and each button is the pre-programmed drum pattern for each song. I guess Alianna will be playing drums on top of the programmed beats? That's pretty much what Chan did on the album, a lot of the songs on the album have a combination of real drums and programmed beats.

I would guess Manhattan, as that song does have a drum machine track.

The album version had live drums. So I guess the live version will sound different.

This is only 9 songs. "Sun", "Always On My Own", and "Peace And Love" are not listed in the picture. I really hope "Peace And Love" is included in the show. That song is just begging to be played live. Maybe its not listed in the picture because the structure of the song has all those start/stop parts and its a song best left for live drums only.

I wonder what else will be in the setlist. These 9 songs listed here would probably only last about 50 minutes, "Peace And Love" would make 55 minutes or so. She was usually playing about 20 songs in about 100 minutes with the DDBB.

A year later looking at this topic again. Interesting, we all pretty much got what we were hoping for. She didnt really do the middle solo section I was hoping for, but songs like ''Bully'' and ''Angelitos Negros" in the middle came close, and were often highlights. I started this topic on 9/18/12, and on 9/18/13 she played her first solo set in years. I hope this is a start towards more solo concerts. US tour please!
