This is the 17th performance of the year and 35th performance of the "Sun" tour.
The "Golden Plains Festival" ran from 3/9/13 to 3/11/13. Cat Power played on 3/9/13 around 8:40 pm. At some point in the set J. Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. joined the band to play guitar with them. Dinosaur Jr. followed Cat Power's set.
Also at the festival on 3/10/13 were Chan's friends, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. With Mick Turner also opening for Chan on some of these dates a lot of her collaborators were around. I'd love to see some pictures of all the Cat Power bandmates together.
Fortunately, Australia Radio RRR aired almost 35 minutes of the concert as part of their live coverage of the Festival. The times listed above are for this audio. The live audio can be heard here around the 55 minute mark -

Oh frustration! I've only been able to record 3 songs: Angelitos/Always on my own/3,6,9 and then they switched to talking, and you can barely hear Chan singing in the backround
"King Rides By" was also broadcast, i don't know about other songs. It should be available on demand here: http://ondemand.rrr.org.au/ (Helzapoppin')

Is Chan Marshall a blues singer? Even setting aside her much-imitated drawl, Cat Power songs often have a harrowing streak of confession and (maybe) redemption to them. Her tools have changed over the years – from troubled, erratic folkie right through to wounded, homespun pop star on last year’s Sun – but these still feel like the blues. Here, Marshall and band lean more on extroverted rock than on inward resignation, with the newest songs just as unabashedly melodic (despite lyrics about alcoholism and other very personal tribulations) as on the record. The Moon Pix-era classic ‘Metal Heart’ – recorded in Melbourne a decade and a half ago – is made big, rock-y and cathartic. It’s rapturously received. Not every song sees its magic translate to this setting as well as that one, but a highlight is the appropriately moody, Spanish-language ‘Angelitos Negros’ (once sung by Roberta Flack) from Jukebox.

Few artists are as polarising in the live setting than one Chan Marshall. The set timing for Cat Power’s return to the Supernatural Amphitheatre was a little off the mark, missing the aimed sundown synchronicity to provide a somewhat droll welcome into the first evening. Opening track The Greatest had a reworking to incorporate minor chord arpeggi similar to that of Funkadelic’s Maggot Brain. Chan’s vocals were consistent, but rarely great. Same goes for the new band. And the new material, such as Cherokee, didn’t quite hit the mark. Fetishising Rowland S Howard is massively on trend, and Chan paid homage with a shonky rendition of Young Charlatans/Boys Next Door classic Shivers.

Cat Power had some mystique, but not enough to convert us from casually informed to an eager listener. The set picked up a little as time went on, but on the whole, we were underwhelmed. After joining Ms Power on stage for a couple of songs, J Mascis returned with his Dinosaur Jr cohorts and a proper wall of Marshall amps for a set of 90’s grunge. Some people never get over that initial excitement a 13 year old has when he plugs his new Squire Stratocaster copy into a 15-watt practice amp and strums a distorted power chord for the first time, and J Mascis is one of those people. It’d be nice if he could sing, though.
