Back in the Days (Instrumental)
What's with the instrumental version of 'Back in the Days' I've seen around, which also clocks at 3:55 but is only the 'vocal + bass' loop? Where does it come from? Is it some mistake from one of the digital versions?
Thanks!

Where have you seen this? On youtube? On a torrent?

Well, since I had bought the digipack version and couldn't buy 'Back in the Days' on any digital store in Spain, unlike 'Fire' which is on iTunes, I made some research and found the only .rar file that claimed to have 'Back in the Days'... I realised when the tour began and I saw her singing it on videos that I had been listening to that instrumental version which I don't know where has come from, and then I listened to the full studio version in a Youtube video. So it's very strange!

Indeed! Maybe does it come from somebody who tried to remix the song?
Re: Back in the Days (Instrumental)
Maybe... It's weird cause there's no main vocal but it's not just the loop (if that was the case we could think someone did it sampling the loop over and over), since the percussion on the last section also appears, so it's a genuine instrumental, but I can't figure out where it was released or why

Re: Back in the Days (Instrumental)
I've listened to it and i don't have any good explanation. It looks like a mistake but your question remains: where does it come from? I don't think that there is a Rock Band mix of Cat Power tracks somewhere...

Must be that the wrong files were sent to Japan, somehow. I like how she tagged Matadorrecs in her message. "WTF".

Well, EMI didn't do better: last month, for the 50th anniversary of Love Me Do, they pressed thousands 7" vinyl records with the wrong version of the song.

Re: Back in the Days (Instrumental)
Do you know if there is any special CD edition (I mean with Fire+Back in the days as bonus tracks) other than the japanese one?
I was expecting to buy the japanese one but if you tell me that there is no vocals on back in the days, that's pretty a shame...

I don't think that there is such a thing. My advice would be to wait for some time. A second japanese CD with the normal version of Back in the Days might be released one day.
